Description
this piece was commissioned by the swiss clarinet quartet. the Layaly is style of vocal improvisation in arabic music in which they normally use two words (lail and ain) meaning the night and the eye. I used only these two words for the voice. the other performers say only three syllables (dom, tuk and es) dom and tuk which are the sounds of the tabala and the es tor replacing the rest as we use it here during ear training. I used arabic and sudanese rhythmic patterns in the audio recording at the beginning of the piece you will hear notes which is supposed to be the sounds of the performers and thier fingers while snapping them.
